01 — The difference

A printer that answers, not a checkout that guesses

An online bulk uploader

  • — Price quoted before anyone has looked at your artwork
  • — No proof, or a proof you cannot change
  • — Color "close enough" to your brand guide
  • — Support is a ticket queue in another time zone
  • — Reorder next year does not match this year

Boring Tees

  • — A human reviews your art before quoting it
  • — Digital proof, revised until you approve it
  • — Pantone matched to your actual brand values
  • 786-302-9144 reaches someone who knows your job
  • — Artwork, inks and garments documented for the reorder
  • — We will point you to the cheaper method, even when it earns us less

02 — Serving Reston

Why Reston orders look the way they do

Reston asks for hoodies more than any other market we serve, and it is not a coincidence. The Dulles corridor employment base is technology, and technology company apparel has settled on the hoodie the way finance settled on the quarter-zip. Launch merch, hackathon swag, new-hire kits, conference giveaways — the default garment is fleece.

Hoodies change the math. The garment is the dominant cost rather than the print, which means the gap between a one-color and a four-color design matters proportionally much less than it does on a tee. Designs that would be prohibitively expensive to screen print on shirts at low quantity often become reasonable on hoodies, and DTF widens that further by removing per-color setup entirely. It also means garment selection deserves more attention than usual: a cheap fleece pills after three washes and the logo outlives the sweatshirt.

Alongside the tech work there is a steady community layer — running and cycling clubs, Reston Association groups, school and youth programs, and the small businesses around Town Center and Lake Anne.

03 — How it works

Four steps. You do two of them.

Turnaround is measured from proof approval, not from your first email — which means getting final artwork to us early is the single biggest thing you control.

  1. 01

    Tell us what you need

Quantity, garment, artwork and your date. If you do not know which print method fits, say so — recommending one is part of the quote, not an upsell.

  2. 02

    You get a real quote

A written number, broken out so you can see what the garments cost, what the setup costs and what each print location adds. Not a range, and not "starting at."

  3. 03

    Approve the digital proof

We send a proof showing exact placement, dimensions and colors on the garment color you picked. Nothing goes to press until you sign off. The production clock starts here.

  4. 04

It prints and ships to you

Screen printing and embroidery run 10–14 business days, DTF 5–7. A 5-day rush is available for 20% more. Shipping is quoted with the job, not tacked on at the end.

04 — Who we print for

Built for how Reston actually orders

Tech companies & startups

Launch hoodies, hackathon merch and new-hire kits along the Dulles corridor. On fleece the garment dominates the cost, so a multi-color design is far less punishing than it would be on a tee.

Conference & event teams

Speaker and staff hoodies, sponsor giveaways and booth apparel. Fixed dates, so the proof cycle needs to start well before the week of the event.

Running, cycling & outdoor clubs

Club hoodies, race merchandise and training apparel. Performance and fleece blends need different ink and cure handling than cotton, so name the exact garment in the quote request.

Community & association groups

Reston Association programs, neighborhood groups and volunteer apparel. Annual reorders where consistency between years is worth more than novelty.

Schools & youth programs

Spirit hoodies, team fleece, camp and program apparel. Youth sizing has a smaller printable area, so art gets scaled and shown on the proof rather than assumed.

Small business & retail

Staff hoodies, retail merchandise and branded fleece around Town Center, Lake Anne and Herndon. Retail-intent pieces get retail-weight blanks and a softer print hand.

05 — Methods

Three ways to put your logo on a garment

Screen Printing

14" × 17" max imprint · 10–14 business days

Ink pushed through a stencil, one screen per color. Cheapest per piece at volume on one- and two-color designs, and the most durable finish we offer. Setup is charged per color per location.

Embroidery

Digitized once per logo · 10–14 business days

Stitched directly into the garment. The right choice for polos, quarter-zips, caps and anything worn to work — it survives industrial laundering that would crack a print. Cannot render gradients or hairline type.

DTF Printing

13" × 19" max imprint · 5–7 business days

Full-color transfer heat-pressed onto the garment. No per-color setup, so photographs, gradients and complex artwork cost the same as a one-color logo. Usually the cheapest option under 100 pieces.

06 — What drives your price

No per-shirt price list, because it would be a lie

Anyone quoting you a flat per-shirt number before seeing your artwork is guessing, and the guess is usually low. Four things set the price, and we will show you all four broken out on your quote.

Quantity
Setup is a fixed cost spread across the run, so the per-piece price falls sharply as the order grows. Minimum is 12 pieces, mixed across sizes.
Ink colors
Screen printing charges a setup per color per location. DTF charges none — which is why full-color designs often come out cheaper as DTF below about 100 pieces.
Print locations
Front, back and sleeve are three locations, each its own setup and press pass. The same artwork reused at the same size and colors is charged setup once, not three times.
Garment
The blank is often the largest line on the invoice, especially on fleece and outerwear. We will show you two or three options at different price points rather than picking for you.

12 piecesMinimum order, mixed freely across sizes.

+20%5-business-day rush, when the calendar requires it.

$35Art change fee, if the design moves after approval.

07 — Questions

Custom Hoodies in Reston, answered

The printing itself is comparable; the garment is what costs more. A fleece hoodie blank runs several times a t-shirt blank, so the garment dominates the total. The useful consequence is that adding ink colors hurts proportionally less on hoodies — a four-color design that would be expensive on tees at low quantity is often perfectly reasonable on fleece.

It depends on whether people will actually wear it. Cheap fleece pills after a few washes and ends up in a drawer, which wastes the whole budget rather than saving part of it. Gildan is fine for a high-volume giveaway; for something a team wears daily, we would point you toward a heavier retail-weight fleece. Tell us the use case and headcount and we will narrow it to two or three options.

Yes, usually via DTF, which handles unlimited colors and gradients with no per-color setup fee. Screen printing is still better for a one- or two-color design at higher volume — thicker ink, better durability, lower unit cost. Send the artwork and quantity and we will price both approaches and tell you which is cheaper, including when that is the one that earns us less.

Yes, and on fleece it looks excellent — the pile gives the stitching depth that a flat tee does not. Fine detail needs care on a textured surface, so we will digitize with the fabric in mind and show a stitch proof. If you are torn between print and embroidery on outerwear, embroidery generally looks more finished and lasts longer.

Ten to fourteen business days for screen printing and embroidery, 5 to 7 for DTF, from proof approval. A 5-day rush is 20% more. One seasonal caveat worth planning around: fleece inventory tightens in the fall, so an October hoodie order can be constrained by blank availability rather than by our production schedule. Ordering early is genuinely cheaper, not just safer.

Twelve pieces per order. Mixing garment types in one order is fine and often smart, but each distinct print setup is charged separately — so the same logo on hoodies and tees at the same size and colors is one setup, while a different design for each is two. If you want both, keeping the artwork identical across garments is where the savings are.
