Blue and cardinal tees for a web3 scholars programme — including a back print that is nothing but a working QR code.
The brief
Conference merch has a 72-hour window to do its job. BLKW3B were running a scholars programme at NEARCON 2022 and wanted shirts that identified the cohort on the floor and gave anyone who approached them a way to follow up.
What we did
Three pieces. The royal blue tee carries the BLKW3B geometric mark in gold above the wordmark in white — two colours, centre chest, the standard-issue cohort shirt.
The cardinal tee credits the programme and its backer: "BLKW3B SCHOLARS PROGRAM · NEARCON 2022 · Powered by NEAR Foundation", printed in a warm cream that reads as gold against the red.
The third is the interesting one — a QR code printed enormous across the back in a single colour. Printing a scannable code is unforgiving: the modules have to hold their edges exactly, because a filled-in or bled square is not a slightly worse print, it is a code that does not scan. Wide open squares on a smooth cotton face, one colour, no halftones anywhere near it.
