Etched glassware, not a shirt in sight

Air Force Two, 1st Airlift Squadron

Pint and stemless glasses carrying the Vice Presidential seal — laser etched, because ink was never going to be the answer.

The brief

Commemorative pieces are judged on permanence. Something that marks an occasion is going to sit on a shelf for decades and get washed occasionally, and a printed finish that clouds or lifts after a year defeats the entire purpose of making it.

The artwork raised the bar further: the Vice Presidential seal is dense heraldry — an eagle, a shield with thirteen stripes, an olive branch, arrows, a ring of stars, and text set around a curve — plus a signature in fine script.

What we did

Laser etching, into the glass rather than onto it. The seal is cut as a frosted relief so the fine internal detail — individual feathers, the stripes on the shield, the stars around the ring — stays separated instead of blocking up the way a printed enamel would at that scale.

"AIR FORCE TWO" arcs above the seal, the signature sits beneath it in hairline script. Etched into the surface, the mark cannot fade, scratch off, or wash out. It lasts as long as the glass does.
